my archer fish broke my thermometer. the metal balls at the bottom feel to the bottom and there was the red waxy stuff mixed in there. I scoopped out almost all of the metal balls and did a 30% -water change. Am i in trouble or will my fish be ok. the thermometer was the kind that has a specific greavity gauge, the floating type. is there harmfull stuff in these. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks,
kev

I dont know if these thermometers are still made with mercury or not. If they are then yes that red wazy stuff is toxic. ALthough I thought mercury was a silvery looking liquid.

Thermometers are made of alcohol now, for the most part, so chances are everyone will be fine.

Get the stick-on kind

Thanks TG. Oh btw I got a set of braided lines for the washer. HAHA, thanks for the adivce on that. Man I dont want to have another mess like I had.
