Damaged impeller, take a look.

This photo was from about two weeks ago. I have not been able to get around to ordering a new one until today. I hope it wasn't too late because guy at the LFS told me that the filter can actually overheat from a damaged impeller and some magnet gets fudged up too or something. I will be buying a better intake cover this time so that absolutely no sand can get through.

The impeller is a little bit rough, and you can see how torn the rubber is. Also notice all of the sand specs that got through into the housing.

I'd recommend to anyone to ALWAYS have an extra impeller on hand. Buy 2.

My main pump went out on my Mag12. By the time I got one (overnight), I had goofed with the heater and boiled my refugium since there was no circulation to the main for 40 hours or so. Of course, the PHs in the main kept it alive.

I promised I'd always have a backup impeller for my main pump from then on.
