DE (HQI) vs SE MH lighting ... the difference?

I'm inches form a decison to go MH, and am leaning toward dual 250W SE mogul bulbs. Are DE bulbs better? More light per watt?

Doesn't the type only regulate the connector and type of ballast? Not the performance of the light?

Generally DE MH lamps are more intense than SE MH lamps. AFAIK a 150w HQI DE set up is approximately equivalent to a 250w SE set up. Keep in mind DE lamps are more expensive to replace. HTH

I've got 2 150 HQIs on my tank and have seen tanks with 250s they look to be about the same.
