Dirty bottom

The bottom of my tank is really messy. I went from sand to having nothing. And the floor stays messy no matter want i do. I was thinking about a snail. Maybe they can eat it and change it to something that filter can suck up. I was also thinking of using my tiny shop vac... but that always causes issues when i try use that. Should I go back to sand.

Just get a siphon hose and suck it all up whenever you do a water change

What type of fish do you have? Maybe bottom feeders would be a good thing to get, but even they poop too.
