Hi. I'm considering a Hydor ETH inline water heater - it would be spliced into the return-to-tank tube coming from the canister filter and must hang vertically. This would be hanging on the back of a tank in a carpeted living room.
As far as general aquarium design, does it make sense to minimize the number of tube-to-device connections outside of the tank because they are likely to leak at some point? Or are leaks at tube/device connections rare enough that you are comfortable adding more (than just those associated with the filter) outside the tank even in a water-sensitive environment (like a carpeted living room)?
I'd like to have the heater outside the tank but if it will increase the likelihood of leaks I'll put it inside. Thanks.
