So my current dream tank is about to become a reality :). I am purchasing either a 75 or 90 gal in the next month!! I have never had a canister filter before, so was looking for imput from people with more experience. It seems like the way to go. I have it narrowed down to the Eheim 2217 ($159) or Rena Filstar xp3 ($139).

Any major differences in ease of setup? They seem kinda intimidating.

How about the water current? I am doing FW planted with schools of small tetras and I worry about them blowing all over the place.

Or do I actually need more current or a powerhead for a larger tank? Can this harm the plants?

Lastly, I was considering the Hydor inline 300W heater. I really like the idea of pumping warm water into the tank and avoiding a "hot spot" under a regular heater. Any experiences good or bad with these??

The rest of the tank:
Glass top
EcoComplete 2#/gallon
Nova Extreme t5HO 4x54W with fan
2x10000K, 1x6500K, 1x actinic
Anything I'm missing??

Thanks!

Get one of each or two of one... Manufacturers overrate their canisters by about twice as much... I'd get two renas.
