Same thing for my new Fluval 304 - I have 2 fish tanks on my desk, 10 gal and a 29 gal (yes, its a big desk) and I can only hear my air pump.

I can second that, the 304 is silent.

so glad that it's a classic now..

I always wanted an eheim.. belive it or not now that its a classic model its not as expensive... they have always suppose to been the best.. though the fluval was always up there with them I have the good old Fluval 403 and after the 10years+ its been running Ive replaced a o-ring about five years ago and it still runns nice and quiet.. it might be due for some more maintanace soon though..

I have been nothing but happy with the Fluval 304, especially since I got it for only 70$ at BigAls. You can go into any LFS in the country and get parts for it, its silent, and it filters well. What more do you want?
