I have a Eheim Ecco Cannister Filter 2233 for my (just cycled) 55 gal tank. It has three different chambers for filter material. Came with course sponges and a charcoal pad.
What should I place in these chambers to be the most beneficial :?
Also use a skimmer.
Thanks for advice. :)

What kind of substrate and how much LR do you have in the tank?

Personally I would remove the carbon pad as it will assist in removing the trace elements that you want/need in your water.

When I did run a canister filter I had a layer of EHFIMECH and a layer of EHFISUBSTRAT I also had a white pad at the top and a blue pad between the layers. I currently am using my Eheim filter as a circulation pump.

The link below is to the different forms of eheim filter media and pads.

Thanks for your response. I had gone to the Eheim web site, but was confused about what to order.

I have crushed coral substrate and approx 15# LR (intend to add more).

Another :?:
Do I need to add any trace elements to my tank?
