i had my tank for ten months without any problems till my sea apple wiped out most of my fish.i cleaned everything real good and bought new sand.i can't get my filter to suck and it is making loud noises.i took it apart and tried for hours and still sounds like gears grinding.anyone have this problem with a emperor 400.i also tried priming it for hours

Make sure the propeller is pushed all the way down in the motor housing and check that that the intake tube is pushed all the way down on top of the propeller. Does the motor come off? If so make sure it is clean inside....I use a turkey baster to squirt into it since it is hard to fit anything down there to clean! I had the 400 a few years ago and kind of forgot how they are put together. Hope you get it fiqured out!!
