I have always had in sump skimmers so i need some help, I am considering the ETSS 600 XR Protein skimmer for my next tank build (125G w/ 40G sump).

I have found a great deal on a used one but wanted to be clear on how to plumb it before I buy it.

I want to sit it alongside my sump and would like if possible to plumb it using gravity without the need for a pump. Could I just put a Tee in my drain pipe with a ball valve and feed it to the skimmer (the other drain pipe going into sump). My drain pipe runs about 1800GPH. Then plumb the skimmer return into the sump through a bulkhead keeping the return level.

Do I have the right idea?

Anyone, I need to decide whether to purchase this by tomorrow or not, will it work plumped with out a pump outside the sump?

Thanks!
