External water pumps v/s submersible pumps

So the sump I got with my new tank is set up for a external water pump.

Well I am looking at them and they are kinda pricey and the specs say they move about as much water as my mag drive pump.

What is the difference, the mag drive is smaller and the external looks like a pool pump!

I suggest, you should check a website that offer different pool pumps and look for a compatible pool pumps for your tank.
