Few more equipment questions?

Well the bad news is I still haven't bought anything for the new tank yet...
...the good news is that the location has changed which now "forces" me to get a 4' tank instead of the 3' 65 gal I was planning to get. Anyways, it's most likely going to be a 90gal (believe it or not, it's what mky wife chose... ...finally she's come around) it'll be 48" wide X 18" deep by 20" tall. (not 100% on the height but pretty sure) The questions are:
1. is the rena filstar xp3 alone going to be enough filtration?
2. Anyone have any info on the lcd thermometers?
3. What would be a good "heater set-up/layout)
4. If i need more filtration, would a submersible one do? Don't want HOB due to noise of water. (tank going in bedroom)

Note: the tank will have primarily assorted rainbowfish and my shark.
most likely going the plastic or silk plant route.
Thanks in advance for the info/help.

from what Ive read on the forums, you should use 2 heaters - one on each side of the tank.. (200W)

I would think the filstar would be enough for 90 Gal. since it pushes 350 gal/hr. I have no experience with them so dont know how good they are.

I can't comment on the rest of your questions but I have 2 Coralife Battery Operated Digital Thermometer's and I think they are great. For $6.99 from Big Al's you simply can't get a better value IMHO.

Just a thought, Mazdaman...while if you're anywhere near as impatient as I am, this might be difficult, you might want to wait until after the 27th to buy everything. You never know what we'll be able to find at the auction!

As for the equipement itself, I'm afraid I'm not the much help...either than to echo joedarat's comments about the two heaters...

the thermo was the one i was really wondering about. Thanks for the input guys.
Joe, that's ok I have been doing quite alot of research on canisters and not including eheim, the filstars are prob the best bang for the buck.
Anyone else want to comment on using 2-200w heaters... ...maybe 1-250 or 300 and 1-150 (more of the backup) Also don't really want to go with 2 heaters even though I know everyone will push me to go this route I was thinking of 1-300w ebo-jager... Thanks again

One XP3 is not going to be enough for a 90, IMO. I have one on my 55gal. You could consider getting one XP3 and supplement with a large HOB, maybe an AC. If you don't want an HOB visible then get another canister, maybe an XP2.
