I wanted to make a small cover that I can use to cover the gap in my glass top where the filter dumps the water in. I was thinking I would use window screening and let the water just flow through the screen and that would stop the fish from getting out. When I went to Lowe's to buy vinyl screen all they had was fiber glass and aluminum. I picked the fiberglass and it's just the very soft stuff you would use on a screen door. Is fiberglass ok? I'm pretty sure I heard vinyl was fish friendly and people use it for moss walls but I'm just not sure about this stuff.

As long as the fiberglass is coated to prevent water seapage you should be ok. Look up "plastic mesh gutterguard" and see if that is something you are looking for overall.
