Filter Help

I have this filter that i got in my 20gL which i found in my basement i would like to know if its ok to use without a top and if i should just throw it away and get a diffrent filter. The price ranges from 52-89 dollars and if i am to keep it does anyone know where i can get the top from??? Its a SUPREME SKILTER 250 FILTER thank you

I run an aquaclear with no top on it. I got it for free and never really felt the urge to find a top for it. I don't know much about protein skimmers so I don't know if it needs to be enclosed to function properly. Maybe a saltie could chime in here.

ok i did research and its a Supreme Aquamaster 250 can be used to push up to 55gals and i can add diffrent media
