! have a HOB penguin30B and want to change the filter for something i wont have to change out ever again and could also be used to help cycle my 29g when i get that up and running. like maybe some ceramic, just not to sure if i can or what would be a good choice.

There isn't a filter made that doesn't require maintenance and media changes/cleaning on occasion that I know of.

so is ther something that i can replace the carbon filter out with that is something i can maintain and not have to replace often.

Sure, you can place a nice large block of filter floss in there and then you'll only have to rinse it out in a bucket of tank water when you clean it.
