I'd rather not 'ghetto' it.

Ive seen Anthony Calfo recomend the DIY surfase skimmer (Im sure he was thinking that most people would be using it in there sump though)
and were did the people that designed the fluval surfase skimmer start out there design???? yea.. a cup with slots..

and the bubble trap.. you could make something that looked nice.. I think :P
well.. the CLSS has one and you can buy one for the Remora's as an upgrade.. so somebody it using them :P

hrmmm I could take out my canister filter but I need some power heads or a pump. What do you guys think of the pvc bottom in the sand that blows water around? Do you guys remember that?

I only have one powerhead that is rated for 180 gph from walmart so I need more water movement. If I do have the jet system in my aquarium will I need surface aggitation from something like a spray bar?

If you are going with an overflow/sump then surface agitation will be taken care but if not I would also have a ph point upwards for surface agitation along with the UGJ system.

If you haven't figured it out yet I like to BOLD links :P
