Filter problems

I began my new tank a few weeks ago, but recently, my filter is sucking water but where the filter mesh is, only a little water is coming out and most of it is rushing out where the tube sucks the water up...is this normal? Is it clogged? Any suggestions?

Well, it really does depend on which brand and model filter you have. It does sound though like you either need to rinse off the cartdrige/filter media, or change it altogether.

Please let us know the brand and model filter and we will be able to more accurately help you.

yeah that sounds like what happens when my 10g filter starts getting plugged your best bet is to rinse that filter but you are going to need to replace it soon

I'll check on the filter model and everything like that...in the mean time, you think it's ok to take out that cartridge and rinse it off to try and unclog it? I don't wanna ruin an bacteria that I have living in there.

Try rinsing it a bucket of water from your tank.
