After a 15 year hiatus from fish keeping I decided it was time to start up again. I began digging out all of my remaining fishy stuff from storage and cleaning it up. What is the best method to clean and sterilize my classic magnum 350 before use?

Vinegar I've heard of.

Depends on how it was stored I guess. Also if the area might have been sprayed for spiders or such.

Personally, I use a fairly strong bleach solution, which helps burn off any organic residue, making it easier to clean off. Vinegar is okay for removing mineral deposits, but doesn't do much for sterilization. Filter cases and other hard parts like intake tubes I run through the dishwasher, with detergent. I basically bleach everything (previously used) that goes into a tank, including substrate.

Do you just soak it in the bleach solution? How many parts bleach? Thank You for the reply.
