Plumbing my new tank and finding that 1 1/2" flexible PVC is not so flexible. The manufacturer recommends 1 1/4" ID for best performance (Danner MagDrive 1200) yet the outlet is only 3/4" MPT.
Has anyone here had experience going down to either 1" or 3/4". Any PROS or CONS to help me decide what to do would be appreciated. |

Dropping down in pipe size increases back pressure and is hard on the pump, creating more resistance on the motor. I would hesitate dropping down to 3/4", though 1" may be OK.

Thanks for the reply. And you are correct: 1" okay, 3/4" too small. I found a site that calcuated reistance and based on my short runs - I am going with the 1". It is so much easier to work with.
I hope to be making saltwater this evening. |
