Hi,
Some one in here must have a Fluval 204? :) My question is can I drop bio-balls, bio-rings into the compartment where the sponge is? The area where the water coming and go thru the spongi, and then up to the other 3 three baskets of media before get pump back to into the tank?
Thanks

You can put different media in there, just make sure it does not block off the water path at the bottom going into the primary media bays.

The sponges are good to leave there though, they block out a lot of medium/large debris and allow the rest of the media layers to work better.

I'm sorry, but I may have put it different, what I meant is the spongi is still there, just add bio-balls, bio-rings into the empty space, not to replace the spongi :)
Thanks
