Hey guys. I'm replacing the hob filter on my 55g, and I have been looking at the fluval 406. I know it's the replacement for the 405, but are there any other improvements from the 405 in the 406?

I've found the 406 for $140-$150 online, and the 405 for $30 less typically. If there isn't any major changes, would you guys suggest getting the 405 and saving the cash? Or should I pony up the few bucks more and get the current model?

Thanks as always!!

Really the differences are worth the upgrade in my opinion due to some of the issues the 405 suffered from, these include:

-New color
-New priming pump mechanism...biggest impact to fix re-starting issues.
-New "lift lock" clips on the aquastop valve.
-up to 15 percent more flow than the 05 series filters, but without causing more power usage.
-It's supposedly quieter than the 05's.
-New impeller mechanism with a new impeller cover...another huge improvment over breaking those stupid impeller covers all the time!

My vote is spend the extra $30 to avoid loads of headaches in the future.
