Fluval Aqua Clear

Hi all,
I was wondering what everybody put in their aqua clear filters. I just have the sponge and bio media that came with it. I want to add more mechanical filtration as i fell the sponge is not doing enough.

I use the factory sponge, a hand full of pillow stuffing and biomax. It seems to work well

Sponge + cut-to-fit pad + bio max.

This is in my AC110. In AC70, you can use two sponges or I've found that 6 pot-scrubbies fit well.

I don't use carbon in any of my filters.

Okay this is what I was thinking. Fluval prefilter underneath the sponge with polishing pads above the sponge and then bio media. Is the prefilter overkill or would I even be using it right?

Don't see the need for pre filter. Sponge should be plenty to catch big waste and polishing pad will catch smaller particles.

Fluval Aqua Clear

The fluval prefilter media is ceramic. I use that as the first stage of filtration in my canisters. I like it.
