Fluval canister filter

I have a fluval 204 running on a 36 gallon tank and I recently acquired a fluval 305 filter with no intake or output. I was wondering if o could simply take the 204 off its aqua stop and attach the 305. Also will a fluval 305 strainer fit on the end of a fluval 204 intake. Thanks.

Aqua stop valve im not sure abt. The intakes should be interchangeable.... But not positive from the 4 to 5 series. Mine are mostly interchangeable but i have all 6 series. 206, 306, 406, & fx6

Fx6 is the only one that the diameter is too big to interchange with my lower models.

SunSun canister is good, if you don't want to spend a lot.

Fluval 306 for that bowfront. I do like sunsun as well. Which was suggested above.
