Fluval ClearMax Insert For Fluval 205

I have a planted tank and i was wondering if this is bad for the plants or the tank itself. It says it traps phosphate, nitrite and nitrate. If it is bad what other media insert can i use? I currently have 2/3 shelves filled with biomax and carbon.
