Fluval fx5 filter

Anyone had one or know anything about these filters? I plan on using on my 72 gallon.

They are really big and really powerful. I have one on my 125g it does a great job. It replaced 2 marineland H.O.B filters (lol).

It's overkill definitely, as long as you can direct the flow in a way that your fish can swim properly then it's no problem.

But let me tell you that thing is strong!

On a side note I think convict here had one in his 75g African tank.

There are a variety of ways to slow / redirect the flow. I wouldn't worry about it

Ok great the guy I bought tank from wants to sell me one and 45 pounds of fugi live rock for $200. From what I can tell looks like a really good deal.

I agree. Also if you plan on keeping corals depending on how you set it up, many will appreciate the flow.

Or if you can have someone buy it at a good price you can keep the rock or vice versa

Guy that has it connected it to a piece of pvc that runs length of tank and had holes drilled in it every two inches or so.

The flow would be fine for your tank. Its not insanely strong at all.
