Yes this the only difference, and on my 4th FX-5 I just cut off the downspout before I even added water. The only other thing is not to fill the trays to high, I'm using two boxes of Biomax per tray will a media pad on the lower tray.

No, they are on 4 tanks ranging from a 72B to a 180g. I have purchased all of mine from Amazon.

Did you just cut the downtube off as close to where it is intserted into the lid as you could or did you leave any sticking out? Did you use a hack-saw? Thanks -

Yes I used a hacksaw and cut it flush where it comes out of the lid.
