I have narrowed my search for a canister filter to the following 2:

Rena Filstar XP3

Fluval 404

I have 100 gal tank which will also have a Penguin 330 running at the same time.

Which one is better? Positives/Negatives about either.

All input is welcome. I have no idea which one to go with as the prices are about the same.

Thank You

Chueyboy, as you know, I am a filstar fan, and have never owned a fluval. I too did a lot of research on the internet before buying an XP, and the reasons for choosing one, is the price compared to other filters with the same gph rate, separate media baskets, self priming, and it has an automatic shut-off when the motor is about to over-heat. I found this last feature handy when I came home this week and found the intake tube on the bottom of my tank. Who knows how long it had been that way :p .

Thank You Gunnie! That is probably the best reason I could have! The last thing I need is to come home and find the motor overheated/destroyed.

Thanks again.

I have the fluval 404 on my 55gal Oscar tank along with two penguin 330's.
The Fluval is doing a great job keeping the tank CLEAN.
It is a breeze to clean and refill with media.
I like the different baskets so you can use diff. media at the same time.
I have had it on my tank for 6 months with NO problems.
Great filter!!
