Glass Canopies - Aquarium Advice

How do you put a filter/CO2/etc. on with a glass canopy like this

I was thinking of getting something like that with light strip mounted above but I can't figure out quite how it would work. Pictures would be nice if you have em

The edge has a few inches of plasticy stuff on it. You can cut it with scissors.
