great idea (i think)

ok so I was sitting here at work eating lunch when I started thinking about my tank and remembered I had seen a polyfil fiber hanging on one of my plants and have recently decided to quit using carbon in my filter BUT I have those refillable bags could it work if I was to stuff the bag full of the polyfil to king of contain it when in my filter instead of it being loose cause I've noticed how it swells when it soaks up enough water
