Is it possible to run 2 x 175w single ended bulbs off of one 250w ballast?
Is the voltage the issue? Would the bulbs pop?

I have a retro style Pulse start 250w halide ballast and I was wondering if it would be possible to power 2 x 175w bulbs.

Another question?? How would a single 250w 20k Halide look on a 90 gal standard? Right in the center.
I would supplement with a pair of t5's actinics and maybe 2 x 65w PC on each side of the halide so I dont have that 'spot light' effect.

Thanks
Sean

I dont think you can. I`m pretty sure the watts have to match the ballast wattage. I dont use MH`s so I`m not sure on them. I use VHO`s and I know on them they cant be over the ballast wattage.

No. Each bulb must be run off it's own ballast of the same wattage. Dual ballasts can run 2 of the same wattage bulbs.

Very, very bright in the middle and very dim on the sides. You get aprox 2' square coverage area with 1 MH bulb, so 1' on either side will be very dark.
