it's plastic and not metal but the gum actually is pretty heavy... And we could probably put some work into making the base more sturdy... Ill look into the sponge filters.

That's really cool with the stand being clear. You could do a double aquarium, a betta in the gum-ball part and sea horses in the stand .

That would be kinda epic. Dueling fresh and salt... Heh

To be fair though, using the base to add volume to the single tank is probly wiser, if not as cool.

adding water to the bottom would help it be more sturdy... if only rope lights were waterproof and not hot! LOL

What an AWESOME idea! In the same vein, I turned a candy bin into a fish tank(see signature). How do you plan to light the tank itself? Or would you just have ambient lighting for it? Definitely following along!
