In July, at the height of the summer heat, I will be transporting a large acrylic aquarium in a closed truck across Utah and Nevada. Of course the truck interior will get quite hot. Will heat distort or damage acrylic? Is there some precaution I can take to protect the aquarium? Also, what about scratching? I have been thinking about wrapping it in a thick thermal blanket. Anyone out there have experience in transporting large acrylic aquariums for long distances? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well they do get transported to the lfs by truck so I woiuld imagine you wouldn't have a problem. You absolutley want to wrap it to prevent scratches.

I would also wrap in in something soft, as a course blanket might scratch it.

The forming temp. of acrylic is 350 degrees. I doubt that the tank will get that hot, unless you park in the sun for a while. Make sure the tank is not on the bottom of a pile of stuff and is supported well anyways.
