Help with skimmer

I just got a coral life super skimmer 65 and I put it together anshooked it to my 56 gallon cube tank I plugged it in and turned the valve down and al it does is fill up the waste contaner even when it's closed or open I cntleave it on otherwise it will fill to the top how do I do this correctly i can't seen to figure it out plz help me is brand new

Is it forming bubbles? How deep do you have the pump?

It's forming bubbles it's about 2 inches down maybe I used the longer tube not the shorter one

The 2" depth sounds about right. You have the red knob opened all the way? Do you use any kind of water conditioners in your tank?
