Hey all HOB skimmer question?

So I have a 90 gallon glass tank with LR and Live sand I just got the HOB cpr dual pak skimmer do you want the air locks closed, open, or half way I'm not sure how to tell if this thing is running right? Any help would be appreciated...

Bubbles should be at about the bottom of the cup to start. However you accomplish that.
