Hood Lights

Hey this is my first time really using this forum for something other than threads that all ready existed. It has always been a great help but now I have a question I couldn't find easily.

If I have a 24 inch light hood with florescent bulbs, what size bulb would I need to replace it? Are the bulb sizes related to the hood size or their size. The bulbs are about 18 inches give or take a hair and I'm not sure which size to use to get new bulbs.

I just recently purchased the tank used and it has 2 different bulbs and I would like to get matching colors.

A 24" fixture will take a 15w bulb usually and the size on yours matches up too.

So it would be a bulb listed as 18 inches? I guess the real question is how are the bulbs listed, byt their size or the fixture?

By both. Also check the writing on the bulb, it will say the watts.
