How do you remove a bulkhead?

I can turn one end with a wrench but the inside part just spins and there doesn't appear to be a good way to grip it to keep it from spinning. What's the trick?

I usually just stick a few fingers in the bulkhead and apply pressure while I turn it. If it is to tight for that I have used a adjustable oil filter wrench. Which can be rigged with a rubber strap and a pole. The more pressure applied the tighter it gets.
