what problems could age pose to a glass aquarium? would resealing the seams be the only maintenance needed?

I've heard / read of glass tanks lasting years ... as in decade(s) without any resealing. An indoor aquarium is free of the weather elements that would wear away silicone sealants. Aquariums are ... for the most part ... kept at a constant temperature and the silicone doesn't dry and then get wet on a constant cycle.

pretty much just resealing , I had a 20 gallon for ten years until my little cousin threw a baseball at it

ok sounds pretty good :) I'm getting a big second hand one, which is already probably a half a decade or a decade old, and I'll probably use it for the next twenty years or so (I've got common goldfish) and I'd rather not have to worry about 120 gallons of water flooding my floor. That'd be bad, very bad. And thankfully I don't have to worry about baseballs :)

Any ideas for do it yourself braces?
