How many gallons is this? Strange dimensions

I am trying to acquire a tank from my friend who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed (is that how it goes? lol) So, I've been asking him to measure an empty tank he has and this is what he messaged me back with..17"L , 9"W, 11"H. These dimensions sound really small and sort of odd. How many gallons could this be?

He may be wrong then. I'll have to go over there myself and check it out.

Here is a bunch of calculators you might find helpful. There is one for tank water volume.
