200-250 should be plenty at less you live somewhere it gets real cold

i live in los angeles so the coldest it gets is probably 40 degrees lol so i should get 200 watts?

the reason to get a heater with more watts is if your room temperature gets very low during winter, it will require the heater to step up and heat more. to counter(ensuring the water will always be steady) that, you can buy a heater that is more powerful. a 150Watt heater will just have to run more to keep the water temperated than a 200Watt, though. in the end you still use the same amount of energy, with a more powerful heater you just ensure that it will be better at keeping a higher temperature with a lower room temperature.
