How often should i test my water?

Hey, I have a ten gallon that has been running for a few weeks now. I ran the cycle with fish but nobody died, and I've been doing pwc's every day until I got a liquid test kit (today!) and I was wondering, when and how often should I test the water? And I checked today and the ammonia was at .50 ppm, so I added some conditioner that should have lowered it, but didn't check again.

I recommend doing it once a week, Thats what I do so that I dont miss any changes in the water that happen.
