I currently have my 90G tank built into a wall in my basement. Behind the wall I have what I call my "fish room" where I have an RO/DI unit, my sump, fuge, 2 section laundry tub. The room is studded and not finished.

I bought a new 48" 2x150w HQI/T5 setup and suspended it from the ceiling last night.

Since the tank is in the wall the first 3.5 inches are actually under some studs so my new light fixture is very close to the wall studs. I am talking about a 1/2 inch away.

I am worried about the heat being so close to the wood. Should I be concerned? Would moving the light another inch away make a big difference? (any more than an inch would put the fixture to far off center)

I did stop at the hardware store and bought an aluminum sheet to fasten to the studs between them and the light fixture. Would this help or is it a waste of time?

I'll try and post a pic later when I get home tonight if necessary.

Thanks for your help!
