I'm looking for some ideas on what to use on the back of my aquarium. I want something that will hide wires and hoses, but that doesn't detract from my aquarium. I want my aquascape to be the scene, not the background. Any advice? I kind of don't want to do a solid black either.

You can use poster board in any color you want. Or contact paper. You can paint the back of the tank any color you want also. I saw one tank that had bamboo sticks lined up across the back of the tank. Just find something you like and give it a try. I have one tank with aluminum foil on the back to reflect light.

Freshwater tank typically is black , saltwater is royal blue background
I suggest using an oil based paint . Works better on glass than water base paint .
