Is it ok to slow the flow rate on my marineland C-530

My marineland C-530 is too strong for my 75 planted freshwater. Is it ok to slow the flow rate? I can slow the rate at the hose cut off valve; but, I am not sure if this will be damaging to the impeller drive. Any advice?

Yes you can limit the flow on both ends by putting a sponge over the intake of the filter and sponges in the filter to slow the speed. Maybe getting a ball valve for the output
If the information is good, thank the one giving it
