We ran our setup today and the water in the sump gets below the pump then it pumps air. We tried adding more water but it does the same thing

You can add a t joint with a ball valve to direct water back into the sump to ensure your pump doesn't pump all of the water out and burn up.

Something like this?

That is it. Just add a t joint coming from your sump pump back to the front of the sump. Then add the ball valve coming off the t joint. It takes a little tweaking to find the perfect balance. But once you do you won't have to mess with it again.

What do you put that onto? The ball valve fits my setup

So the pipe coming up from the sump pump would have a t joint with the open end facing the front of the sump. Add pvc pipe to that along with the ball valve then a 45° elbow draining the water in the pump.

Or you can direct it into skimmer compartment
