jad powerheads problem(newbie)

Hi newbie here, looks a very good forum..
I have just come back to aquariums from a 2 year break and have perchased a 6foot tank and all the trimings for a tropical tank
I have got 2 JAD sp1200 powerheads and dont have any instructions
has anyone any idea how to turn the power down? when i turn them on the fish get thrown accross the tank
I have tried emailing JAD for help but no luck

no need for powerheads imo if you have sufficient surface agitation
