Jbj nano cube options

I have a jbj 28 gallon nano cube cf quad. It comes with a three stage filtration system. Would it work better to replace the three stage filtration system with my reef octopus ns80 to remove waste? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or would you suggest modifying to run both the filtration system and the skimmer. Thanks everyone.

Is it the stock media tray?

Yes it's the stock media tray with the sponge, carbon, and ceramic bio rings.

I haven't run a skimmer on my cube in quite some time. Take a look at inTank and their upgraded media baskets. I run filter floss on the top tray, Chemipure Elite in the middle and Chaeto in the bottom. I've had great results so far!
