So how much LED lighting will I need for a 50 gal tank?

I should mention that the tank is 30" long and 20" deep. Would 1- Tao 120 watt LED fixture be enough?

You will have some shadowing in the far corners.

Freshwater? Saltwater? What kind of corals/plants do you want to grow? If you are not growing plants or corals 120W is total overkill. You can light that tank with <20W very satisfactorily.

It will be a reef tank when I'm done purchasing all of my equipment. Just getting back into aquarium keeping after a 15 year hiatus. Holy expensive... Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm sure I'll need more advice along the way.

As far as corals go I will probably start with soft corals and see how that goes before I progress into the harder stuff.
