So I have a marineland led light fixture and it has a "moonlight" setting which turns on a few blue leds. For an unplanted aquarium like mine you are supposed to keep the light on for around 9-10 hrs right?

So does the time I have the moonlight on count towards these hrs

i.e. can I have the main light on for 10 hours then have the moonlight on for a few more hrs until everybody goes to sleep

Does the moonlight cause algae growth like the main light does?

Thanks

Hi. To the best of my knowledge the blue moonlight bulbs are of so low lighting that they do not contribute to the total lighting hours and have no effect on algae. They just look good and, I think, help in a more natural transition for the fish from full lighting to darkness and visa-versa.
