LED vs. Flourescent

Which is better for a 55gal. Im renovating in a planted set-up w/ anubis and java fern? Are led's expensive compared to flourescent and are they that much brighter? The flourescents i have now r dull and drab. I want something better without spending a fortune.

What kind of fulrescents do you have?? The T5 are pretty good but some are expensive I have T8s but they do me fine I also got LEDs they are pretty good though and can be expensive .

The lights i have now r what came with the hoods. 15watts each.

I have 15 watt for my 20 gallon..I would suggest a higher watt at least a 45watt. What Ts are there?? I think you need higher wattage though.

The lights are 18" 15watt T8. Two of them.

If you are attempting to do things on a budget, go with t5ho's. I don't know a ton about LED's, but price wise they still lose to t5ho's. Although I'm sure in the future that they will be more affordable and economical.

It's hard to beat something (price wise) like the cheap 2x54w t5ho fixtures on aquatraders and ebay.
