I happen to like Sunlight Supply. I also like Hydrofarm if you can use hydroponics fixtures.

I think this is all I need now but if I go with 6 bulbs what would a good bulb combo be for a wide variety of corals would 3 and 3 be good (10k and acticnic) or is there a better way to get more bang for my buck

Mr x can you explain what the different acronyms mean regarding the lights? Why did we go from tube bulbs to LED?

Is there a single light fixture you recommend for a freshwater, multi stocked salt tank meaning corals and fish and a light for brackish?

Im very nervous because lighting has changed and I'm ole school try 20 yrs ago

The short answer is, yes. You will choose a different fixture for those scenarios. You will want a powerful fixture if you are keeping photosynthetic creatures/plants, and a basic fixture for a fish only tank. I don't think we touched on LEDs here. I was suggesting some high output lamps for the OPs fixture. ATI and UVL are companies that make lamps for the hobby.

T5s do get hot, but not hot enough to burn your skin. Metal halide get's hot enough to cause serious burns. I don't know much about t8s because I have never used them.
And of course LED technology runs the coolest.

The guys from the fish store said go Led. My husband would like soft corals leathers and the invert thats like an anemone its brown tube like fingers with neon green tips. Im tying to keep this simple until we can get a proper light. Its the little marine land light fixture that came with it and its led.
